Why these tools?

I don't chase the latest shiny tools. I use what works and what I can afford. Most of these are free or cheap, and they do exactly what I need them to do.

The best tool is the one you actually use. I've tried fancier setups, but I always come back to simple, reliable tools that don't get in my way.

If you're starting out, don't worry about having the perfect setup. Start with what you have, build things, and upgrade when you actually need to.
